SCOTT WEILAND: 'No Contest Does Not Mean Guilty'

July 22, 2004

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"I was going to go into this long diatribe about the further injustices of celebrity reporting but its redundant. Regarding my plea, 'no contest' does not mean guilty! The chances of me winning a trial are 50/50, depends on honesty of the participants. The only thing that I would like to be known is that my urine was held for almost 4 months. For a prescription diazepam? Wow! someone has a bizarre fetish!"

As previously reported, Weiland was sentenced to a six-month stint in a drug program and was placed on probation and ordered to repay the owner of a parked vehicle he rammed shortly before his October arrest on the misdemeanor DUI charge.

Weiland, 36, previously was placed in a live-in detoxification program after an earlier arrest in May 2003 for heroin possession. In 1999, he served jail time for repeatedly violating his probation on drug charges and for failing to complete drug rehabilitation stints.
